Co Print started in 2019, when two university students began building multi-color 3D printing systems. We began with upgrade modules for printers people already owned, ran two Kickstarter campaigns, and learned where multicolor printing breaks. Quadro is our first complete printer, designed around that experience: four independent toolheads, no color-clearing purge and no head swapping.
Quadro didn't start from a blank sheet. It started with years of fixing, upgrading and rethinking other people's printers.
It Started in 2019
We started working on multi-color 3D printing in 2019, while we were still university students. At the time, only a few companies in the world were working on the problem. We became the third, after Mosaic and Prusa.
Co Print was founded by Fatih Kazım Duymaz and Hüseyin Özen, and the first thing we built was the Multi Filament Module (MFM), a way to add multi-color printing to a printer that didn't have it. Building it taught us how color changes really work, where they waste material and what makes them fail.
Two Kickstarter Campaigns
- MFM was our first Kickstarter campaign, and it was backed by more than 500 people.
- ChromaSet was our second, with more than 1,000 backers. It brought two product families: KCM Set, a multi-color upgrade kit for Klipper printers, and ChromaSet, a multi-color upgrade kit for Marlin printers.
Those backers used our modules on their own printers, and their feedback is where most of what we know about multicolor printing comes from.
What We Learned
Working across many printers showed us the same problems again and again:
- Purge waste. Sharing one nozzle between colors means flushing, and the pile grows with every change. See Purge Towers Explained.
- Mechanical complexity. Designs that swap parts on every change add wear and alignment work.
- Calibration. More nozzles mean more offsets to get right.
- Software. Multi-color workflows were rarely designed from the ground up.
An upgrade module has a ceiling, because it has to work with whatever printer it's attached to. To go further, we needed to design the whole machine.
Why a Complete Printer
A complete printer lets every part be designed around the same idea. We announced Quadro in December 2025. It's built on IQEX, Independent Quad Extruder: four toolheads on a single axis, each with its own motor, filament path and nozzle. Nothing is picked up or put down, and no color is flushed out of a shared nozzle.
Around that idea we designed the rest:
- QDock, where idle toolheads wait with their nozzles sealed. See Inside QDock.
- Automatic calibration, so four nozzles stay aligned. See How Quadro Calibrates Four Independent Toolheads.
- QuadrOS and Co Slicer, built for four toolheads from the start. See QuadrOS, Klipper and Co Slicer.
- A rigid open-frame bed-slinger, kept simple and accessible. See Bed-Slinger Simplicity. No Bed-Slinger Flex.
What We Decided Quadro Wouldn't Do
Much of Quadro is defined by what it leaves out: no color-clearing purge (Why Quadro Doesn't Purge) and no head swapping. Those were the problems we ran into the most, so we designed them out.
Built with Our Community
Since we announced Quadro, it has grown with the support of our community. Their feedback and testing have shaped the interface, the software and the details of the machine, and our modules have always worked with open firmware.

3. FAQ
Who founded Co Print? Co Print was founded by Fatih Kazım Duymaz and Hüseyin Özen, who started working on multi-color 3D printing in 2019 while they were university students.
Has Co Print run Kickstarter campaigns before? Yes, two. The Multi Filament Module (MFM) was the first, with more than 500 backers. ChromaSet was the second, with more than 1,000 backers, and included the KCM Set and ChromaSet kits.
What were KCM Set and ChromaSet? They were multi-color upgrade kits: KCM Set for Klipper printers and ChromaSet for Marlin printers.
Why did Co Print build a complete printer? Upgrade modules are limited by the printer they attach to. A complete printer lets the toolheads, parking, calibration and software be designed around the same idea.
What is IQEX? IQEX stands for Independent Quad Extruder. It puts four independent toolheads on a single X-axis, each with its own motor, filament path and nozzle.
Is Quadro open source? Yes. Quadro runs QuadrOS on unforked Klipper, and its slicer, Co Slicer, is built on OrcaSlicer.
